Would you like to change something in your life?
Has something happened in your life and you need help and support?
Maybe you are unsure about the future, a relationship or your job?
As a couple are you finding it difficult to connect?
Would it be helpful to talk to someone in confidence without fear of being judged?
Counselling For You offers a confidential and supportive space to talk, be heard and explore the issues affecting you.
Hello, my name is Karen Sedgwick, I have an Advance Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling and a UKATA Diploma in Transactional Analysis (psychotherapy).
I have many years of experience helping clients reach a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationship with others.
I am a member of both the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and UKATA (UK Association for Transactional Analysis) and work within their ethical framework.
I believe the key to successful therapy is the relationship between the counsellor and client. A good relationship provides the solid and supportive foundation necessary to promote change and growth.
About Transactional Analysis
As a counsellor I primarily use Transactional Analysis as a framework to help clients better understand their relationships with others and themselves.
Transactional Analysis (TA) was founded by Eric Berne in the 1950's and is a widely recognised and accessible form of modern psychology.
Sessions will explore your thinking, feelings and behaviour and look at how these have been shaped by your past experience.
The goal is to help you regain autonomy over your life. Berne defines this autonomy as the recovery of three vital human capacities - spontaneity, awareness and intimacy.
At the heart of TA is the basic philosophy that:
People are OK, every individual has value and worth
Everyone has the capacity to think
People decide their own destiny and these decisions can be changed.
How much does it cost?
I am based in central Uckfield close to bus and rail links and with ample free parking.
I offer counselling on a short term, usually 6-12 weeks, or long term basis. I ask that clients commit to either weekly or twice weekly appointments.
For individuals the cost is £50 per 50 minute session. The initial session is charged at a reduced rate of £25.
For couples the cost is £65 per hour.
I charge the full fee for absences, cancellations and missed appointments where I am given less than 48 hours notice.
If you would like to make an appointment, or even if you're not sure whether counselling is for you and you'd like to ask a few more questions, then please call me, Karen Sedgwick, on 07938 988836 or email me, in confidence, at firstname.lastname@example.org
I look forward to hearing from you.
"I am not what has happened to me.
I am what I choose to become."
